| I've decided I want to post a meaningless post, for two reasons. Reason A: I'm bored.... Reason B: Thanks to my awesome new (a couple of weeks old or so actually) layout I am addicted to my blog. All I need now is music! Maestro! *claps hands twice* So as you all know, it's Thanksgiving! Which to me is the day of the F's. Food. Football. And family. Notice how food was first, then football. I have to prioratize these things you see. Oh snap! That reminds me.....I haven't eaten much yet, AND I'm probably missing some good football!! *smacks head on keyboard* Ooohhh!! The realatives are here. Geuss I gotta behave now and part on the traditional holiday charm. Well then Ciao! P.S. Spread the word! Make disciples do whatever you need to to let the world know this blog is not dead entirely! My brother and I are bringing sexy....I mean Xanga back! | | |
| ......I used to update my xanger almost daily, even when I had nothing worth my time taking to say it or your time listening to. Guess what!! It's one of those days. So, this weekend is the last weekend of the Renaissance Festival. I'm not exactly sure how to feel about that. I'll be glad to have my weekends back and be able to go to church again but at the same time life will be boring. So I guess I'll wait and see what happens. I do plan on writing a big fat post about the shanagins that went down not just during the festival weekends but also over the summer. So hopefully I'll get that done before next weekend. Until then, I bid thee bye bye. John W. Park, III | | |
| So I don't usually like talking about myself and still don't. I think it's conceited and arrogent and what not but I feel as though I don't keep my family as well informed about life as they should be. So for my older sisters and my Pops (not that he ever gets on xanga anyway haha) I'm gonna post about the current stuff going on right now. Mulan Jr. is a little less than two weeks away and I'm getting really excited for it. I think it's going to amazing. Move in is this Sunday. I love move in for some reason. It's usually a lot of hard work and what not but it's really fun. I think the stunts in particular in this show are going to be the big crowd pleasers. So if you can you all should come see it. Be warned, it will be one of those shows you'll want to see more than once because some things happen so fast you're like "wait, what just happened?! THAT WAS AWESOME!" So it's not a bad thing at all. But you'll probably know what I mean when you come see it! Okay so brand new news about me my older sisters don't know yet, I told my Dad last night in a phone call cause I needed to know what day he wanted to leave for vacation cause that goes along with what I'm about to tell you. A little over two weeks ago, a friend of mine John Clearly (John Smith in Pocahontas and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast for those who saw the shows) IMed me and strongly encouraged me to audition for Ren Fest. He told me he auditioned and got cast as the King, which is one of the biggest if not the biggest role at the Ren Fest. So he told me I should go audition Thursday night (April 24th). Whom I consider my best friend Wil Oden had already told me I should audition and I kinda thought about it but mostly brushed it off. I thought it'd be fun but, I didn't think I'd have time this summer to do it, I probably wouldn't get in and I prefer going to these sorts of things as a place to hang out with my buds rather than work. So when Wil told me I should I appreciated the invite and wanted to but left it at "hmmmm....nah". So John IMed, encouraged me to do it, mentioned I could at least audition then if I get cast decide if I want to do it or not, that's all he was asking. So I said I would if I could get off Roving Imp rehearsal to go, I would schedule an audition appointment. Well leader of the RI John Robinson is very flexible and let me off only one week in advance and had no problems with it. (I swear if everybody on earth were as flexible as that man we'd all get along a lot better ) So getting RI rehearsal off I called the director, Jim, AKA "Papa" to the Gypsies and "Maestro" to the Royal Court, and arranged to audition at 8:27 PM Thursday night. I had school that day in St. Joe so I left St. Joe sometime around 6 PM I think, stopped for a bite to eat and got to Bonner Springs a little early. The auditon went well, I auditioned for two roles in the Royal Court and was called back for Saturday. My good friend Dylan Glenn as well as CYT newbie Rachel Pearson also auditioned Thursday night for Royal Court and were both called back for Saturday as well. Saturday we had costume parade for Mulan 9 AM to 4 PM, and call backs were at 1 PM but heading right into the direction of the Track, and it was a race weekend. So Dylan and I had gotten the okay from Mulan director Chris Baddell to leave early and we'd be back just in time to pick up Kenton and Hannah. Bethany Chipchase made a surprise appearence at call backs also. She walked up to us and asked what we were doing there and we said we were going to ask her the same thing. Call backs went well, the number of ladies called back compared to the number of men was about a five to one margin. So most of the call backs were centered on the ladies, the guys didn't do a whole lot but we weren't bored for hours at a time either. Over all by the end of the day I had not felt as confident about my call back as I had about my audition, never the less, at the end of call backs, Jim gathered everybody together, told us we were dismissed except for me cause he wanted to talk to me. So after that he took me aside, threw his arm around my shoulder and said "John......John John John. I think you have what it takes to make a good Gypsy son. How do you feel about that?" ".........uh........uh....." I really didn't know what to say. Personally, even though I only auditioned for RC stuff and not Gypsy Sons, I felt extremely honored and humbled to be asked to be a Gypsy son. I had wanted to be one but at the same time didn't because that was Wil's thing and I didn't want to make Wil's thing, "Wil's and John's thing". Wil is a great Gypsy, far better than I will ever be and as much as I would love to work with him again, I really didn't want everybody to think "John just wants to be a Gypsy cause Wil is" but again, more than anything, I wanted it to be Wil's thing not mine. Jim talked to me a little bit about it, had two of his "Gypsy Sons" take me to a back room to interview me. That went well and I felt confident about it. Afterward I went and talked to Jim about a couple of things and he asked me to come back Sunday for Gypsy training. Dylan and Rachel were called back again for Sunday also. So I got home, extremely tired, but excited and hopped on AIM for a little while. Very soon after Karis Blakely got on and IMed me immidiately and asked how I was. I was honest with her, told her she would want to kill me cause her and Hannah have talked about if they ever got on at Ren Fest they'd want to be Gypsies. But she told me if I didn't tell her she'd kill me for keeping her in suspence so I told her and she was stoked. Anywho, Sunday morning I was detirmined to not miss Church completely for it so I went to Sunday school, got to hug Michael Oakley who was passing through town Sunday, went home and soon later headed off to Bonner once again. So throughout the course of 12:30 to about 7 ish PM I learned Gypsy dances and accents and how to "woo" women...... I got there before Wil, and they threw a few costume pieces on me and then Wil walked in. "Ah the smell of my good Gypsy brothers!" *stops dead and looks at me* "Holy crap! John!" All the other gypsies laughed as I greeted him and told him I tried texting him but his phone isn't working. The look on his face was completely priceless when he walked in! But by the end of the day, my feet, my legs, my torso and my left hand were sore from all the dancing. I couldn't complain though, I had made several new friends and had a blast and Jim seemed to be okay with my few conflicts. So Dylan and I left with high hopes and excitement and went to QT for a drink. When I got home I was not as tired as I thought I would be or as much as I thought I was at rehearsal/call backs. But by the end of the day it wasn't quite official that I was a Gypsy yet, but it was almost certain. Today, the cast list was updated. Dylan is playing a character in the RC which I can't remember the name of. Bethany is the Queen's maid. Rachel is the King's Page (book page?! WHAT?! What is a Page?) We already know that John is the King, and it was assumed Wil would automatically be a Gypsy again no matter how poorly he auditioned (which he auditioned very well as he always does) and he did get cast as a Gypsy again to return as probably the patron favorite, Slavvo. So happyness all around! And it is official, I am a hip dancin', money swindling, woman woo-ing Gypsy boy named by my "Brothers" Milosh. "Me-lo-sh". The "E" and "O" are long. So that's my recent news, I'm really excited but still numb about it. Cause again, I didn't expect the honor of being a Gypsy boy. Other things coming up, this Saturday, Kenton, Hannah and I are in a church event at our church called "The Gathering". It's a worship thing through songs and drama. Kenton is in the choir and Hannah and I are in two of the three short skits. So that will be a cool experience. If you want more details and info let me know. So this is life as of right now. I'll try to update this thing more often to keep my family informed of things. Talk to you guys later! And now, the moment you've all been waiting for, the end of the post!! Your host for this post, John W. Park, III P.S. I made a really stupid mistake I pretty much hate myself for right now. On my conflicts I listed I need off the entire week of Mulan, the entire first week of June for vacation with my family and the last week of July - the first week of August for CYT camp and my sister's wedding. With all of that to mention I completely forgot about my Dad's wedding the 20th of September and I doudt I can change it now. I am kicking myself saverely for this stupidity of a mistake. Please pray for this situation. This is very important to me and I don't have a clue how to approach it. Pray that Jim will ask one more time about conflicts and will let me off the 4th weekend of the Fest for my Dad's wedding. P.S.S. Iron Man this weekend!!! Friday night!!! 12 AM!!! AMC!! Who's with me?!?!?! | | |
| This is a short story of the life of John. *clears throat* About two and a half years ago, John got braces. About five and a half hours ago, John got braces off. Now, John's teeth feel happy, free and weird and like they've lost a lot of weight. John was interviewed by a reporter who asked him "What do you plan to do next?!" John replied, "Eat an apple, get headshots done and go to Disney Land." In conclusion, John is a handsome devil. The end. | | |
| *dramatic entrance* WARNING!! Post was NOT proof readed.......see? Messed up already! Okey dokey, as I said I probably would, here's a post about Saturday. Saturday morning I planned on getting up at 6:30 AM. When Kenton's and mine alarms went off, we turned them off and stayed in bed. I planned on just laying there for a little while to let myself wake up, but before I knew, I was sound asleep again. I wake up at 7:10 to the sound of Mom playing the piano upstairs. I look at the clock, "oh crap!" and jump out of bed and start getting ready while telling Kenton to get up too. I did quiet time, got dressed and Kenton and I started packing what ever else we needed for the day. Our plan was to leave before 8 AM, but we left shortly after. We stopped and Lamars Donuts for breakfest, and Quick Trip for gas and drinks. Then we were on the road for a little over an hour. We finally arrived at the Blakely's house somewhere between 9:30 and 9:45 AM. When we got there, there was a couple there working on a van that none of us recognized. Anyway, we get out and take a few things into the house, like video games and the XBox 360 Euny let us borrow! Once we were in and said our "how do you does" and were all sentled for the day, Caleb and Kenton hooked up the XBox and played a round of Halo 3. Mom and Mrs. Blakely went to the library to do scrap booking stuff, Mr. Blakely worked on one of their vans, while Karis and Hannah hung out and chatted and Miriam played on the computer. Caleb's and Kenton's round on Halo lasted a looooong time so finally after one of them reached a score of 30, they ended the match and it was finally my turn to take a shot at Caleb. By the end of their game, Karis had all ready begun to fix lunch, and Hannah was helping her. During Caleb's and my second round, we paused to go eat. Yummy hot dogs! Karis suggested that after lunch we should have a DDR contest or something. We all looked at her weird and she didn't understand why none of us agreed, until we told her playing DDR right after we all ate was not in our best interest. Caleb and I finished our round on Halo, then him and Kenton played. Karis, Hannah and I started a game of "Balderdash". It was kinda tricky and weird playing that with only 3 people but we made it work. I don't remember who won. After that we decided to play a little SSBM. Kenton and Karis did the majority of winning, mostly Kenton, although, Karis did her fair share of butt kicking. Caleb and I were just completely off our game. After that, us boys decided to go outside and bounce around on the trampoline. Karis and Hannah wanted to join us but Karis was feeling well enough to go outside in the cold so Hannah stayed inside with her. So, Kenton, Caleb and I go out and jumped around for a bit. At one point, a quarter from my pocket escaped and one of us found bouncing around, so we stopped and picked it up. I had the idea to have a scramble for the quarter. So, one of us would pick it up, and drop it back on the tramp and we'd race, push, bounce, flop, whatever we could do get the quarter, only to drop it again. The bitter cold went straight to our boys' toes and lungs. Just standing still for a sec to catch our breath from the bone chilling cold, we saw Mom's car driving down the road about to pull into the drive way. We were like, "Oh uh! Moms! Hit the dirt!" So all three of us collapsed and lay flat hoping they hadn't already spotted us. I mentioned that it was too bad we didn't have our paint ball guns.....we could have ambushed them when they were walking inside! Pretty soon though we went inside due to frozen toes and lungs. The girls had decided to get on AIM and pester people on their buddy lists' for fun. While they did that, Caleb and Kenton played some more Halo, or maybe it was Star Wars Battlefront. I don't really remember. I participated somewhat in the girls pestering people on AIM. Mostly Dylan, but Megan H. a little too. I wrote some stuff to Megan just to tease Hannah. Somebody said Hannah was in the bathroom, so I took it a bit farther just to embarrass her. Megan was like "TMI". LOL Mom and Mrs. Blakely talked and threw pizzas in the oven cause they hadn't eaten yet. When everybody had eaten, we began a real round of Balderdash. The players were, Mom, Mrs. Blakely, myself, Karis, Hannah and Miriam. Caleb and Kenton didn't want to play, and Mr. Blakely was out at the moment picking up Micah from a friend's house. Mom destroyed everybody on Balderdash, as usual. I think Karis came to a very close second place. Hannah and I got left in the dust. By the end of the game, Micah had come home, so he joined in. I think, maybe he just watched.......I don't remember. After that, Mom and Hannah were going to teach the Blakely ladies how to play "Rage". They asked us boys to play but now that Micah was home, we wanted to play video games with him too. So we did. Caleb had previously whooped Kenton and I at Halo, then when Micah got home, he whooped us even more. After I played a round against Micah or two, the girls asked me to come play the second round of Rage with them, so I did. Being, once again the only guy to play something other than video games with all the terrifying ladies. Rage went, well, I guess. Karis started out way ahead of everybody else. I eventually jumped ahead of everybody else. Going into the very last round, I was four points ahead of Mrs. Blakely and Karis who were tied in second, but on the very last round, I lost a total of 15 points, Mrs. Blakely got like 10, and Karis got 5 or minus 5 or something. So Mrs. Blakely ended up winning, with Karis in second, and me in third. Afterward, Miriam strongly suggested we play "Apples to Apples" which all of us did, including Caleb and Kenton this time, everybody, except for Mr. Blakely, who I understand hates playing card games. Miriam immediately collected 3 or 4 cards, after that, other people started getting them too, but mostly it went back and fourth between Karis and I, and occasionally Caleb. By the end of the game, I had 5 cards, which is for the win, Karis and Miriam had 4, Hannah had 3 or 4, Caleb and Kenton had 2, Mom and Mrs. Blakely had 1 and poor little Micah was the only one to not have any at all. Although, Micah's cards were usually pretty funny. After that, Caleb and I played another round on Halo, then we packed everything up. Caleb allowed me to play a little of "Blazing Angels" a WWII jet fighter game. At about 10:30 ish I think, we hit the road back home. We finally got home around midnight or so. All in all we had a blast! We didn't do have the things we had wanted too, but that's okay, there's always next time, although, we think next time should probably be in the spring or summer when it's not freezing cold. Hopefully by then we'll have our paintball stuff running! We can melee and do all sorts of other stuff besides stay inside and play video games. Playing video games with Caleb is a total blast, but it got kinda tiring after awhile. When we got home we were all really tired and decided we weren't going to church in the morning. Anyway, it was a day of great fun and fellowship. Hopefully we can do it again sometime soon. Hysterical moment of the day: Playing Apples to Apples, the subject card was "chewy", Caleb put a card that said "my first kiss". Karis and Hannah freaked out, us guys laughed and Caleb, won the card. Your host for this post, John W. Park, III P.S. Miriam is extremely good at Balderdash. Even though she didn't win, she came up with some really good and believable answers. | | |
